We take our artistic inspiration from the earth and sea, from the old world and the new.  Both raw and exquisitely crafted elements give life to our creations. Our design process starts with our diverse treasure chest of ever-expanding resources.  These materials fuel our passionate creative flow.

Each element, from sustainable freshwater pearls and precious stones to re-purposed vintage elements and found objects, is our muse, and is approached with humility and understanding. This process leads to FULVA FUSCA’s unusual designs including challenging juxtapositions of old and new, rough and refined, classic and modern that do not play to obvious symmetry or expectations . Our designs fluidly combine heterogeneous shapes, symmetries and color combinations, taking our jewelry beyond simple adornment, creating our unique aesthetic and balance.

There is a creative precision that goes into each and every one of our pieces, which are hand-assembled in the USA by local artisans, using age-old techniques. No detail is too small.

We draw upon the protective, symbolic, spiritual, historic, and artistic energies of each element along with their chromatic balance and visual harmony to create pieces that don’t dictate how they are worn, instead they transcend fashions and trends to become one with your individual style. Jewelry that can traverse day and night, carrying you from business lunches to galas or vacations, wearable art.

Every day original and unexpected elements inspire us, and our list of elements is ever growing and evolving.  Some of our favorites:

FROM THE SEA: freshwater pearls, Baroque freshwater pearls, coral, and shells.

FROM THE EARTH: Natural semi precious stones, such as turquoise, labradorite, tiger's eye, lapis lazuli, hematite, pyrite, smoky quartz, rock crystal, agate, jasper, garnet, lava, fluorite, amethyst, onyx, and carnelian (often purchased from vintage stocks).

FROM THE FORGE: 14k, 18k and 22k gold, sterling silver, and pure 1000 Silver hand worked by local artisans.

FROM THE MINE: Precious stones, such as superior white diamonds, champagne diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and rubies.

FROM THE PEOPLE: Fair trade, handmade sterling silver and brass beads from Ethiopia, Bali, and East Africa.

FROM THE OLD WORLD:  Sterling and Sterling Vermeil castings of Neoclassical and Renaissance   bas-reliefs, produced with a 3,000 year-old technique, hand made in Italy. Deco European beads, 19th century jewelry elements, hand-faceted stones and antique hand-carved gemstone beads.

FROM THE NEW WORLD. Vintage chains from the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's, along with a collection of found objects including Victorian era keys, Mexican stonework, natural turquoise nuggets and vintage amulets.
