Fortuna & Veritas necklace in sterling silver with lava, pyrite & hematite
The earthy primitiveness of this necklace is refined by the numerous nuanced hues in the monochromatic palette. This classical yet contemporary necklace looks great with blacks ,white, greys or earth tones, from casual to formal, work to evening.
Three Sterling silver medallions, hand cast in Italy, represent Beauty, Truth and Fortune from the classical, baroque and neoclassical periods. The necklace is strung with hand carved beads in semi-precious stones in pyrite, hematite and lava interspersed with hand antiqued resin beads from a pre-war European stash. Sterling silver clasp handmade in Bali. Includes a matching extension chain.
The central medallion features the classical god Apollo, protector of the arts, accompanied by a youth bearing a cornucopia, symbol of abundance and fortune. The sun medallion is from Bernini's baroque scuplture, where the sun represents the Truth, shining on the world. Lava is born of fire, one of the four classical elements in ancient Greek philosophy and science. It is associated with the qualities of energy, assertiveness, and passion.
